Incident Planning

Despite detailed and careful planning, incidents can still occur on school-led visits that adversely affect the health and safety of pupils and require immediate or long-term incident management.

Our sample Incident Plan offers advice on how to manage minor and larger accidents effectively, and includes an easy to follow incident management flow-chart, incident checklist, and full guidance notes.

The Incident Plan has been based good practice methodology developed through the TPYF Commemorative Visits Programme and also on principles outlined in the Department for Education and Skills (England) publication Good Practice Guide for Health and Safety of Pupils on Educational Visits (HASPEV). The DfES HASPEV guidelines are also approved by the relevant education authorities in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. A full version of the HASPEV good practice guide is available from the Teachernet website
