The Cenotaph at Auckland War Memorial Museum

24 students from Alec Hunter School in Braintree, Essex, travelled to Singapore and New Zealand as winners in the Their Past Your Future Commemorative Visits Competition, commemorating the sixtieth anniversary of the end of the Second World War. The group visited museums and other sites of historical and political interest in Singapore and New Zealand to explore these nations’ experiences of the conflict and to talk to veterans about their experiences. The culmination of their visit was attendance at the ANZAC Day commemorations at the Auckland War Memorial Museum in New Zealand, including the Dawn Service of Remembrance.
